Children’s Performing Theatre is very proud of the productions we produce as well as the actors, families, and volunteers who make this all possible.
All actors and a parent/legal guardian must sign and return this form for each production. A copy will be provided at the parent meeting.

Guidelines for Parents/Volunteers:
Children’s Performing Theatre could not produce the performances we do without the help of our parents and volunteers. You are essential to our organization. However it is necessary to have reminders of a few guidelines we have for our volunteers.
All actors and a parent/legal guardian must sign and return this form for each production. A copy will be provided at the parent meeting.
Guidelines for Actors:
- Please be on time for rehearsals, meetings, and productions. We need you here and appreciate you being prompt.
- Follow the directions of the adults (staff and volunteers) who are in charge of the backstage areas.
- You must be responsible for your own personal effects. Clothing should be neatly stacked or in a bag clearly marked with your name.
- Each actor is in charge of hanging up their costume and making sure their props are placed back on the prop table.
- Please sit in the theatre seats properly. Do not play with or adjust arm rests. Do not climb over or under theatre seats, tables, props, or any other furniture, including in the lobby.
- Please be polite and respectful when asked to help with a task for the show. It takes all hands to make the production come together. Your contribution is very important!
- During the production, all areas of the theatre (other than the stage), are QUIET areas. If you must talk, it should be in a whisper.
- You must be present for the last 5 rehearsals – no exceptions.
- Bring something quiet to do during rehearsal – Homework, a book, or your script to study. (No trading cards).
- Phones and any other electronics must be put away (completely out of sight) during rehearsals and performances.
- Do not handle the props unless you are using them for a scene. They are very important items for production of the show. Never engage in any pranks such as moving or hiding props.
- Do not cut your hair or change your appearance without permission from the director between auditions and final curtain.
- No eating or drinking in the theatre. This includes no gum at meetings, rehearsals, or productions. (Please notify a CPT staff member of any medical concerns i.e. diabetes, etc. that we should be aware of.)
- DO NOT leave the rehearsal area without permission from CPT staff.
- No fighting, swearing, inappropriate language, bullying, intimidating, etc. will be tolerated at any time. This will be grounds for dismissal from the show.
- Show respect for the Sermon Center, Powerhouse Theatre, and all facilities. Do not deface or destroy any part of the property. This includes drawing or painting on walls or furniture.
- No running, yelling, or horseplay in the Sermon Center or the parking lot. Keep hands and feet to yourself at all times.
- For safety reasons, sitting on the edge of the stage with legs/feet dangling off, is not allowed.
- Do not use the elevator or approach any other areas in the facility unless accompanied by CPT staff.
- Photos with actors, other than yourself, should not be taken, distributed, posted online or on social media unless you have written permission from that actor’s family or from CPT. Not all actors have a photo release and we must be respectful of that.
- No one under 16 is allowed on the spiral staircase, the catwalks, or in the tech booth. Violation of this rule can result in dismissal from the show.
- No photos may be taken in dressing rooms at any time.
- Shoes must be worn at all times. Flip flops are not allowed.
Guidelines for Parents/Volunteers:
Children’s Performing Theatre could not produce the performances we do without the help of our parents and volunteers. You are essential to our organization. However it is necessary to have reminders of a few guidelines we have for our volunteers.
- All volunteers who are backstage, AT ANY TIME, must have a background check on file. See Sandy if you need a form to fill out to have a background check completed. Previous background checks from other organizations are not accepted.
- When volunteering in the green room, phones (and any other electronics) must be put away and not seen or used during the entirety of the volunteer shift. This is the same rule we have in place for the children, and it allows consistency and full focus on the children and what is happening in the green room.
- Food or drinks of any type are not allowed in the green room. A volunteer can place their drink (cups with lids, please) on the podium in the hallway. Debbie can show you where these go.
- Please check in at assigned time.
- Photos with children, other than your own, should not be taken, distributed, posted online or on social media unless you have written permission from that child’s family or from CPT. Not all children have a photo release and we must be respectful of that.
- No photos may be taken in dressing rooms at any time.
