The History of CPT
Children's Performing Theater was started by Addie Forbes in the Old Fire House Theatre in 1990 and later moved to the Roger T. Sermon Center and it's been there ever since. It has progressively grown into an organization that reaches from Independence to many surrounding city's.
CPT works with students age 5 to 15 to put on a variety of play's. You may end up with a 60's diner setting one year and jump to castle ages the next. They perform 3 times a year. Twice as an audition performance and once as a learning experience. Summer Fantasy is a workshop for children to gain confidence and experience to perform. The classes last for a few weeks and end in a showcase for parents to enjoy.
The board members of CPT are the brains behind generating a scheduled outline each year. The Booster club meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month. There they set up the agendas, select directors, plays, ect. You may join if interested. See Sandy Dempsey for a form.
